Abstract

Immunization is among the most successful components of preventive medicine. It remains one of the most important public health interventions and a cost effective strategy to reduce both the morbidity and mortality associated with infectious diseases. About 30 million out of the 130 million children born every year worldwide are not receiving vaccination of any kind. Improving parents’ knowledge, attitudes towards and uptake of immunizations would help in reducing the prevalence of Vaccine Preventable Diseases(VPD) and therefore, reduce under five mortality rate.
